2012 in Review & Looking Ahead to 2013

As 2012 draws to a close, we’re taking stock of the significant accomplishments and improvements at Health Alliance this year. We’re proud to share this list with you, our valued partner. These successes give us added confidence as we look forward to 2013:

  • State of Illinois HMO Agreement – After months of hard work and negotiation, we were awarded a long-term contract under the RFP for Supplemental Fully Insured Downstate HMOs. The contract runs through June 30, 2016, with 5 additional one-year renewals possible.
  • Dual Eligible Contract Awarded – The State of Illinois chose us to help implement the Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI). This contract could amount to approximately 9,000 new members in Champaign, Christian, DeWitt, Ford, Knox, Logan, Macon, McLean, Menard, Peoria, Piatt, Sangamon, Stark, Tazewell, and Vermilion counties.
  • Midlands Choice Partnership – With this extended network, we’re now a strong PPO plan option for employer groups throughout Iowa. The Midlands Choice Premier provider network has more than 20,000 physicians and health care professionals, 320 hospitals, and 1,500 other health care facilities in Iowa and Nebraska.
  • Stop-Loss Insurance – We began underwriting our own stop-loss insurance, providing another option for self-funded clients to reduce their risk and manage cash flow.
  • Salesforce.com Implemented – A significant investment in modernizing our business processes, this allows us to more effectively interact with brokers, members, and other key contacts. While we’ve streamlined processes and are enjoying more robust reporting with Salesforce.com, we’re also excited about the potential this cloud-based resource offers as our company grows.
  • Launched Your Health Alliance – Now, registered users can easily manage their accounts online through our website. Improved functionality, more self-service, and personalization make for a positive experience.
  • Brand & Product Advertising Campaigns – Along with introducing a fresh new logo and visual identity for all product lines, we soul-searched to find our brand promise within the health insurance marketplace. Our motto, We Have People for That, will continue to be a focus in 2013.

Although it’s a still-developing list, these are 2013 goals we hope to achieve with your support.

  • Medicare Advantage Expansion to Washington State – Our Board of Directors approved the formation of Health Alliance Northwest to partner with Wenatchee Valley Medical Center to offer plans. Discussions with CMS, licensing, contracting, and marketing are all in store for 2013.
  • Individual Plans in Iowa – We plan to launch our PPO plans for individuals by mid-2013.
  • HealthAlliance.org – Continued improvements are in store for plans and marketing online.

We thank you for a wonderful 2012 and wish you a happy holiday season.

Good News: Lower Rates for Individual QHDHP Members

We’re pleased to report that the rates for our 2013 Individual QHDHP 80/50 $5,000 Deductible plan are actually less than what we initially quoted. We mailed letters to affected members to tell them the good news and corrected our system so their bills will reflect the lower rate.

We’ve posted the updated 2013 Rate Book on Your Health Alliance under the Individual Plans Marketing, Comprehensive Plans section of the Forms and Resources page. Please reference the revised 2013 Rate Book with the new premiums when working with your new and existing clients. We’ve updated pages 43, 109, 175, and 241. If you want to print just the updated pages, use the 2013 Rate Book-Updated Individual Pages resource at Your Health Alliance.

From this point forward, if you place an order for individual rate sheets or sales kits, we will hold your order until the updated pieces are in print. Until then, please use the rate sheets posted on Your Health Alliance.
