Broker Commissions on Individual Sales

We appreciate your partnership with Health Alliance and your service to our members. We will resume paying commissions on individual direct and public Marketplace policies and short term policies starting with January 1, 2018, effective dates and beyond.

We’re also increasing the commission rate for individual direct and public Marketplace new sales starting with January 1, 2018, effective dates to $25 PMPM. Short-term policies will be paid at $20 PMPM.

Members with original effective dates before January 1, 2018, will be paid at $20 PMPM. Commission rates will be determined based on the member’s, not the subscriber’s or policyholder’s, original effective date.

  • Example: Member effective February 1, 2017, renews on January 1, 2018. You’ll receive a $20 PMPM commission rate upon the member’s January 1, 2018, renewal. We will not back-pay for 2017.
  • Example: If a new member is effective January 1, 2018, or later, you’ll receive a $25 PMPM commission rate for the member.
  • Example: An existing member effective July 1, 2017, renews on January 1, 2018, and adds a spouse, effective January 1, 2018. You’ll receive a $20 PMPM commission rate for the existing member upon the January 1, 2018, renewal; and you’ll receive a $25 PMPM commission rate for the spouse who was added on January 1, 2018. We will not back-pay for 2017.

This change does not impact our 2017 commission payment schedule.

We will be sending the Principal Agent a new Schedule A later this fall.
